Hi, I’m Daina!

I've been shooting professionally since 2013, after finishing a Diploma in Photo Imaging at CATC Design School in Sydney — though if I'm honest, I was hooked on photography long before it ever became a career.

There's something about turning an idea into an image that still gets me every single time, more than a decade in.

At home, I'm almost 40, a mother of two, and married to a genuinely supportive husband who's heard more about lighting setups and mood boards than any non-photographer should reasonably have to.

Family life keeps me grounded, and honestly, it's taught me a fair bit about patience, timing, and knowing when to just go with the moment — all things that come in handy on a shoot day too.

I try to bring the same intention to the rest of my life as I do to my work. I practice yoga regularly, more for the headspace than the flexibility, and I'd call myself spiritual in a fairly quiet, personal way.

Food-wise, laksa is close to a religion of its own for me. And musically, I'm firmly team old-school — nothing released in my lifetime has quite matched what came before it, and I will absolutely die on this hill.

I think all of it feeds into how I work. I care about doing things properly, taking the time to understand the story before I ever pick up a camera, and building each shoot as a genuine collaboration rather than a formula I run through.

It's slower than some approaches, but it's how the work ends up meaning something.

If you'd like to know more, or you're ready to start planning a shoot, I'd love to hear from you.
